Swining and Dining

We are taking all precautions to insure that Miss Piggy does not get exposed to the flu of any kind. We wash our hands and sterilize the plates before we fix her slop. We tried to get her to have a sip of red wine for the antioxidant properties of “resveratrol and the flavonoids” but she opted for a sandwich with organic peanut butter and grape jelly. We added some vitamins and flaxseeds and she is limiting the number of visitors until further notice….

less chance of a Canine or Feline outbreak here, either.

Peace and Power

It would be great to have both. World peace and the power to protect it would be paradise. Even as a person it is hard to have both. I know I don’t. I think my friend Martha does. She has been through more heartbreak than any one I have met, but her faith keeps getting more powerful with every challenge. We have deep conversations on our daily runs, and whether the topic is sex,religion or politics we don’t have to edit our details and opinions. Of-course I prefer talking about movies,music, food and sex, but even the other two subjects that are often ruinous to a friendship can be “no importa nada”

Joy And Contentment

I admit that I am no Einstein, but in his words…..

There are two ways to live your life.

One is as though nothing is a miracle.

The other is as though 

everything is a miracle.

I see babies everywhere and think of them all as little miracles. Looking at their little feet makes me wonder where those little feet will take them. When I look at my two boys, I am in awe of where they have already gone and where I know they are capable of going in the future. I sit here struggling for the words to express the way I feel about my role in all of this. I have loved them since before they were born and really that is about all I know how to do. I can’t always be there for them to lean on, but I know that if I have done my job the way it should be done that they will not need to lean on me.In fact they really never have needed me as much as I need them.  My role is obsolete. That is not easy to accept, but otherwise I have failed. Having an empty nest is not going to  kill me. It will fulfill me. Did I just say that?

 Listening to Peyton on the brink of seventeen talking to his friends and reminiscing about their junior high and high school years together, I could easily have had a downpour thinking about how much I will miss these times with all of them. I feel like I’m balancing the highs and lows of letting go and I am excited to witness the miracles created by God in me…….

Easter was One Week Ago Today

It was a great time. April is a time of joy and sorrow, just think of the 15th! Sad in many ways, right, Mamacita? Today is April 19th and if you know me you will be happy to know that I only cried once today, OK twice, but the 21st is Christopher’s birthday and that is a time of celebration!!!! Happy birthday early to RCP!

Meanwhile, the girls were still going wild! They must have eaten some deviled eggs! They were good!!!!! So was the cheese tortellini the salmon stuffed with crab,the shrimp salad and  the fillets wrapped in bacon. Sharon grilled veggies in olive oil, we will have to have them again, they were perfect.

I haven’t lost a finger yet…..These Cow boys are amazing guys. Of-course horses, sheep, goats, are wonderful and our dogs, cats and pig (are) human but we are just getting to know about the cuteness of cows…..and it is really fun

Happily Ever After

“Are you goin’ to get duded up” Tom will ask me on the week-ends. This means that when we are saddling up the horses for the afternoon, we wear boots,chaps  and bandanas maybe cowboy hats…..This week-end we got duded up big time for an elegant black tie wedding next door. Manicures and pedicures in case we might be dancing barefoot or maybe jump into the pool, fountain or the lake.

I stocked up on this facial stuff in Chicago and now I found out they are opening a Lush store here in San Antonio. The ingredients say “live, active ingredients” what worms? Well it works as you can see……

Then we did a teeth whitening that made us gag, but Paul Overstreet was the photographer and he took tons of photos of us and his son Duncan was also taking pictures with his beautiful wife Mirasol…. so I’m glad we even shined our shoes….

My husband is HOT

The weather was perfect for a hot air balloon ride, but I was afraid that I would spill my champagne . There were three helicopters, but again I couldn’t press my luck after surviving my last airplane ride without mishap.
