Our two Longhorns found an open gate and went to visit the neighbors large herd of welcoming cows. As much as we wanted them back, we were not sure how to separate them from their friends without a stampede. Weekday mornings do not allow enough time to do any cattle rustling, but luckily they happened to be hanging out by themselves along our fence line last Saturday morning. Tom opened the gate and led them back to their pasture while their 100 plus friends were wailing and telling them not to leave…..I think the boys are glad to be back. Welcoming treats of carrots and cattle cubes helped a lot! I just finished two new paintings to celebrate their safe return. I have them on my Etsy web site . Better than postcards! We received daily snippets of the honeymoon via e-mail.My days have been filled with anticipation of what beautiful images we would be able to enjoy. The creativity combined with the too pretty to believe bride and groom is just amazing to me!I was on the same page as the newlyweds…..I did not want it to end!I am not sure how many cameras, including camera phones were taken on the trip.
I know there were at least two Leicas….one of them a film camera. And a Polaroid….I have never been to Paris, but I would not trade that experience for the pleasure of having this vicarious adventure. The whole experience, from the adorable face that I saw when our son was born, until I saw the adoring look that he has for Annie, is just a life fulfilling dream for a Mom.I know that their love of photography will be shared forever.I love you, Little Annie Leicalady
Sky was very patient while I painted her sitting in front of the bay in Rockport. She finally said “Just take a picture” Well we did take about 500 with the two Canons and of-course video with the Flip camera from the minute that we left the ranch until we stopped at Dairy Queen for vanilla ice cream!!!!!
Running on the beach and splashing in the waves made Sky hungry. She would have had a whole sausage to herself, but a seagull came and snatched one off the grill. Sky has been known to snatch raw scallops off the kitchen counter….. Just Saying…..
My friend, Sue brought photos of her Brahman calves a few months ago. They are adorable. Her babies are a rich golden color…….This is a watercolor painting on Arches 140 hot press paper. It works well with all water media.
Hey people, my name is Sky. I’ve been cooped up all week because of the rain here in Tejas. When I do go outside I track in loads of sand and oak pollen. I hear it is sunny in Chicago. I am really in the mood for some good Chicago pizza and maybe a hotdog. When I’m not feeling sorry for myself, I do have quite a nice life on the ranch…..if you are bored like me, read about it HERE.
I’m working on this portrait in oil. (This image is flipped because I shot it with my computer.)This should be a good day to finish it. I’m thinking of a rose or potter’s pink background…..hope I have some. It would be too bad if I HAD to make a trip to Herweck’s Art Supply to spend my gift certificate!
The Chicago Golden Boy is here to wreak havoc on Texas. He got a really short haircut, (this is an old photo)” I won’t need another one for five months.” He says. Other than that he hasn’t changed, but picking him up at the airport, he really looks thinner…..After a few days of Rockin’ P Ranch cooking, he will look even better!
The Duke and Duchess representing Sacred Heart School in Floresville, Texas were well documented as they waved to the crowd’s in the annual Floresville Peanut Festival Parade on Saturday October 10, 2009.
The Duke, Thomas Peyton Parish was honored to have his Godfather Tracy Spring, representing his Godparents at the festivities.
Peyton’s brother who is legendary in Wilson County surprised many with his appearance in this sleepy town.
Tom and I could not wait for Peyton and Jordan to pass by. We had a great spot to take pictures, thanks to Peggy and Curtis Holcombe who invited us to share the spot that they have had for the last 20 years!
While the rest of the paparazzi was happily snapping away, I was trying to jump start a dead battery in the big fancy schmansy video camera. Thankfully, Tracy had brought a very handy back up that did the job in spite of my dizzying special effects trying to hold it steady.
Peggy had made brownies and there was a huge lunch inside the building where we sat and awaited our royal golden boy.
Tracy snapped this while we were lining up to get the best view.
We knew Peyton would be right around the corner when we saw this cute little group of cowboys and cowgirls. If you look really close you can see a little Yorkie puppy riding in a basket in the front of the pony cart!
I was glad to see that the hearts and flowers were still in place.
The parade ended all too soon!
Last week was spent vicariously enjoying a great time had by Chicago’s Golden Boy. Christopher moved from what I considered an amazing place on N. Michigan Ave. to an even more energetic location for the 20 something crowd. Bucktown is already sounding like a faster paced totally fun place to live. I’m just glad it’s him living there and not me because then I would have to feel very sorry for him here….at home….slopping the hogs, like his Dad and I.
In between packing and moving, he sprinted over to Grant Park to run the Terrapin 5k race on Thursday night. I would have liked to just go there and eat the pizza, Cherry Garcia ice-cream and listen to the Grateful Dead cover band at the after party. Can you believe the race packets had tie-dyed T-shirts and other stuff? Read about it and even see the results here. I checked it out……Chris Parish time:24:11. That is a 7:47 jet pace……A great way to celebrate the move to N. Milwaukee Ave. was to enjoy the Wicker Park Fest . Great music, food and an opportunity to meet the neighbors and be hip to the latest styles. Mullets really got it goin’ on!
Lots of shiny happy people and ……on Sunday a concert by Back Yard Tire Fire.
To round out the week-end, there was a baby shower for friends Ross and Hailey. What better place to meet girls who want to settle down?
Run, RCP, RUN!!!!!!!
