Why do people say that you have a hard outer shell? Shells are not always hard. A tortoise or turtle shell is made of the same substance as our fingernails and horses hooves. Nutrition plays a vital part in the health and strength. Too much protein is almost always the culprit. You can look at them and see the degree of health. One of our mini horses has trouble with his hooves….I have raised Mini Mac since he was a baby and never has he had a problem with his hooves until recently.
Eddie in his winter man cave
Fast Eddie our African Sulcata Tortoise is 25 years old….mas o menos… He already had a perfect shell when we got him. Of-course I will feel like I did something wrong if ever he got sick…..I read about all the nutrition and supplement advice , I light candles, I do a little dance and pray. If you talk to 15 different horse owners, you will get 20 different answers, but if you have an African Sulcata Tortoise, you can just read about care at the Sulcata Station and they have the answers……
She looked like an angel. The day she was born her Daddy called everyone over to the nursery window to see his lovely daughter. I told her Mom several times, “You should have taken her to Hollywood” When I met her she already had a beautiful husband and beautiful little blond children of her own. She would walk around with them and people would stop and stare and tell her “You should take them to Hollywood” They could have joined all the little cookie cutter blonds, brunettes and red heads, but those faces all look alike and they all fight for the limelight that fades as soon as the fame is ignited. She could have launched them into a hot air balloon or a raft for the high seas, risking their safety for the sake of fortune. People would have tuned in just to see authentic beauty and character for a change. There would be no canned laughter. Is it possible to can tears or do they just burst and overflow to flood the planet? The reality is that the little blond girl with the knockout smile and bright blue eyes, chose to take the hardest path. One that has no TV cameras or directors ready to put in a stunt double when reality becomes too real. Now she is a lovely grandmother whose glowing radiance is seen through the little eyes of her grandchildren who light up the room. Being a mother places us in the most vulnerable situation on earth. The risk of heartbreak is never far away. Whether they are sleeping in a bed next to us or miles away. The angels are watching over us all the time, but just in case they need your help, would you please say a prayer for the little blond haired girl……..it would mean the world to me.
When Mini Mac was taking a rest, Fast Eddie finally had a chance to get a close look at his hooves without taking a chance of getting stepped on.He thought that they looked like little tortoises. Now they have something in common…….Say a prayer for Mini Mac, even with this drought, he is confined to a pen to lose a few pounds and is not too happy.
My husband Tom’s brother Russell Parish is in great need of all our prayers! He was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital last night after passing out at his home in Indiana. He is extremely anemic and has cancer which is still being identified. We can do this!!!!!
Let’s see how many loyal reader’s I have right now…..It is a beautiful day outside in Fairview, Texas. We are 35 miles south of San Antonio. My Aunt Rose is in the hospital in San Antonio and I really want your prayers……lots of them right now. I myself pray that God’s will be done, but also personally I am pleading that she is not in a lot of pain and that the great Doctors at the hospital will continue to take good care of her. I want her to get well and to go home and be with her kitties.I also pray for her children and their children that they will have strength to keep taking such wonderful and devoted care of her. That’s it, her name is Rose, Rosemary…..
