I never did catch on, but Will looked great! the amateursTom took lots of photos that we sent to some of the dancing stars.good spotWe loved the music, the musiciansand sampled some of the gourmet cuisine. My favorite was the Spanakopita, spinach with feta cheese and Greek herbs baked in layers of filo. We also tried the Dolmades, rolls of beef, rice and herbs wrapped in grape leaves. We picked up a few souvenirs and look forward to next year.

Week-end Fun

Shopping at Karma Leon

Shopping at Karma Leon

Yesterday, (the last Saturday in September) was the last Houston Street Fair in downtown San Antonio. “Lead the way” Moye said and I gladly made a beeline for the booth called Karm Leon. Claudia and Sandra were actually hand sewing some of their amazing cuff bracelets. That made it even more special knowing that we were shopping as locally as it gets…..no imports for us today. It ended up being kind of a late night for us. We had dinner with our friend Martha at the White House Cafe in Floresville. I am just now getting ready to go for a run and it is already 9:00 and it is HOT. I will add more photos later to this post, but click HERE to see what Leicaman has to say about the Fair.

Future's so bright, gotta wear shades

The last two week-ends we have gone thrift store shopping. We started out in Southtown in down town San Antonio and last week-end had good luck at the Texas Thrift Store. Peyton found these sunglasses. There was no price tag. “That will be ninety six” the cashier informed me. Dollars or cents, I wondered. Well, we ended up with 2 CD’s, a Ralph Lauren shirt, these cool sunglasses and our bill was $6.00.

The Houston Street Fair is held on the last Saturday of the month. Tom and I have gone a few times. This was Peyton’s first experience. He found this hat. We had looked for hats at all the thrift stores and finally found one here. We are disappointed to hear that next month (September) will be the last month of the Houston Street Fair! Que lastima!!!!!

TAKEN !!!!

We had just watched the movie Taken the night before. The streets of downtown San Antonio are far from Paris where the movie was staged, but still…….

When this stranger on a bicycle built for three showed up, Moye and Grand Moye hopped in. (They had been to Paris several times, but they should know better!) They disappeared around the corner and were gone seemingly forever!group shotThey did return eventually with big smiles on their faces! I’m thinking I might like to have a job with Rivercity Pedicabs, better yet, Pony Boy and I could take our carriage downtown and earn our keep!

Ranch Gelding Sale

We saw one horse put through his paces at the San Antonio Stock Show last Sunday. he was amazing. He was beautiful and calm even when he got slammed into the wall by a cow! Lucky person who ended up with horse #350!!!! img_9813

South Texas Longhorn Association Show-February 7, 2009

I read about the Kimble Cattle Company in an article on the internet and when I talked to Dr. Joyce and Dr. Janice on the phone…..I was hooked by the horns! I knew that Tom and I would own Longhorns from this beautiful, loving family. We were able to see McKenna Kimble at the show on Saturday and she is a poised and very professional young woman. In one of her classes McKenna showed a young heifer that  had just been weaned from her mother and had never left the ranch, but McKenna handles them all and makes it look easy…..mckenna

WOW getting some beauty rest

We stopped by the cattle barn to see WOW taking a rest before his unhaltered class at the South Texas Longhorn Association Show held  on the first Saturday of the San Antonio Stock Show. We missed seeing his performance in the unhaltered class for steers, but we are sure he was stellar as usual. It was great to meet the beautiful Dr. Joyce Kimble and to see her beautiful daughter Dr. Joyce Kimble O’Brien and her handsome husband Sean O”Brien.
