Shopping at Karma Leon

Shopping at Karma Leon

Yesterday, (the last Saturday in September) was the last Houston Street Fair in downtown San Antonio. “Lead the way” Moye said and I gladly made a beeline for the booth called Karm Leon. Claudia and Sandra were actually hand sewing some of their amazing cuff bracelets. That made it even more special knowing that we were shopping as locally as it gets…..no imports for us today. It ended up being kind of a late night for us. We had dinner with our friend Martha at the White House Cafe in Floresville. I am just now getting ready to go for a run and it is already 9:00 and it is HOT. I will add more photos later to this post, but click HERE to see what Leicaman has to say about the Fair.

The last two week-ends we have gone thrift store shopping. We started out in Southtown in down town San Antonio and last week-end had good luck at the Texas Thrift Store. Peyton found these sunglasses. There was no price tag. “That will be ninety six” the cashier informed me. Dollars or cents, I wondered. Well, we ended up with 2 CD’s, a Ralph Lauren shirt, these cool sunglasses and our bill was $6.00.

The Houston Street Fair is held on the last Saturday of the month. Tom and I have gone a few times. This was Peyton’s first experience. He found this hat. We had looked for hats at all the thrift stores and finally found one here. We are disappointed to hear that next month (September) will be the last month of the Houston Street Fair! Que lastima!!!!!

Hi Santa

Hi Santa

This is a great family place to go on the last Saturday of the month. There were SO many nice people selling jewelry, T-shirts,toys and just about everything you could imagine. The live music ranged from mariachis and country to rock. It was all great. We bought a CD for Peyton and he loves it. They had a ski slope with snow and bungy jumping (no thanks!) santa-and-dana I talked to Santa and told him that I wanted a Longhorn for Christmas. He said “Ho, ho, Ho I just rode here on one this morning!  I am giving Rudolf and the other reindeer a chance to rest up for Christmas!” Sure enough, BINGO the cutest sweetest Longhorn in the world was there!!! Here are some of the pictures of the festivities.

I could tell that Bingo remembered me……..Longhorns are so smart! We saw Bingo and his buddy Tator Tot in the Floresville Peanut Festival Parade in October and here they were again! I missed seeing Santa Claus riding into town, that must have been SO cool!!!!  Greg gave me a boost up on Bingo and we talked about some of the gentle cows and steers that he has on his ranch in Bulverde. The ranch is called Saving Grace. I can just see us next year at this time with our little herd of Longhorns to spoil!!!!!

We had fun looking at all the arts and crafts. Tom bought me a bracelet for $3.00. Michael McMahon had some beautiful jewelry.A local author and illustrator had some great children’s books for sale. Her name is Mary Borgia. Tales of the Texas mermaid is about a girl that gets her legs stuck in a cowboy boot. The tale is told by Blarney a Texas Longhorn. How could we resist such a great book and the beautiful author was there to sign it for us!

Next stop was a tatoo artist. Tom helped me decide which one to get. There were so many great ones to choose from!

Bingo & Me

Bingo & Me

Good news, bad news……the good news is that I saw my Longhorn  buddies Bingo and Tator Tot at the P-Nut festival in Floresville. These little angels shared my snow cone and gave me an awesome ride down to the courthouse to see the giant peanut. The bad news is that Bingo is for sale and I want that guy !!!!! The first thing I will do is take the ring out of his nose and ride him home….I think that ring might be the reason that he is so laid back, not sure but I will find out soon.

This was our first encounter at the Houston Street Fair in San Antonio. It was love at first sight for me and I really think that Bingo remembered me when I saw him in Floresville at the Peanut Festival.
