Floresville Peanut Festival Royalty

In my humble opinion, the Duke and Duchess representing Sacred Heart School in Floresville were the highlights of this year’s Peanut Festival Parade. Duchess Jordan Boswell looked radiant from the early morning when we met to decorate the car until the final wave at the end of the two hour parade.

Tom, Duke Peyton and I started working our magic on the already awesome black BMW at 7:30 Saturday morning. We had the advantage of professional signs made by Alamo Photo Labs, that made other parade entries envious. We were hoping we would not get a flat tire before the fun began!

With a little help from the local El Walmarto we were ready when the judges cruised by two hours later.

I tried to bribe them with chorizo tacos, but they sped on by without even noticing the 10 dollar bill I was waving…..

The Power Of Pink

I hope I can type this without crying….but who cares I am home alone. Peyton is with Hannah banana and Tom is at the HEB awesome guy that he is. Anyway, this morning Tom and I ran the Power Of Pink 5 K race in Floresville. We attached a large sticker to our shirts that said “I am running in honor of Moye Hinkebein” and this is the part that gets me…..We love her so much and there were people in their 90’s and all ages there that were more than 19 year  survivors and everytime they said their name a pink balloon was released. They were walking and running and looking awesome and right before the race a girl with looooong beautiful hair said now I’m going to get my hair cut. They cut off her loooong pony tail and she cried because she was so happy to give her “locks of love”. I almost stepped up there and offered them my scraggly braid, but I didn’t but we ran and prayed for all the beautiful sweet people who put on this great event!

2nd Annual Wine & Art Fest to benefit Sacred Heart School

dana-bettyThe first Wine & Art Fest was held in 2006 at the Sacred Heart Church Hall and due to the large participation it was moved to the Wilson County Show barn on HWY 97 in Floresville. It was a huge success raising over $25,000.00 in funds. The guests were treated to an excellent dinner and  appetizers  including a variety of cheeses. A wonderful selection of wine and desserts topped off the night. The awesome music by “Small Town Habit” entertained us featuring local talents Charlie Franklin and his wife Crystal. One of the highlights for me was a demonstration by John Karger of Last Chance Forever bird sanctuary. He and his assistant Kelley brought a Lanner Falcon from Africa and a Barn Owl that had been orphaned at birth. Our dear friends Bruce and Betty Dueley donated art and photography which brought in several hundred dollars in the live auction. The Dueley’s joined us at the ranch for Karaoke after the event which made the night even more fun!!!!!danas-golden-eagletom-bruce

All the animals were pretty laid back during this year’s parade. We took over 500 photos during the 2 hour parade and the festival on Saturday. I will add more photos soon. The floats were very creative and colorful! Held the second full week-end in October, the Floresville Peanut festival is always a treat!
